Mel Koth 1st Lady at the Darwen Half Marathon

Gavin, Mel and Jennifer at Darwen Half Marathon
Sunday 7th April was the Darwen Half Marathon, with perfect weather conditions for a challenging race.  The course has very tough hills up and down but also the most beautiful scenery. It's not a pb course with its 1500feet of climbs but the great atmosphere and support made it a great race.
3 Lytham runners took part.  Mel Koth was the first 1st lady, 17th overall, 1:32:43, 16min faster than last year and 10min course pb.  Jennifer Hill 5th lady, 70th overall, 1:44:48 and Gavin Stansfield 79th overall, 1:46:02.

Also, over the weekend, Pendle interclub fell race took place on Saturday 6th April.  Pam Hardman & Julia Rolfe were the only LSARR members to attend the event.Hardman finished in 56.05 and Rolfe 58.27.  On a beautiful spring day where better than a race on. the fells, nice & dry under foot. A hard climb then a drop down to the valley to then climb up to a steeper climb but shorter and then downhill to the end, this was not easy but enjoyable.  A bottle of the local ale for all finishers.

Next senior was Alistair Leivers in 19:40 for 7th.  Graham Webster ran the course in 20:37 for 11th.  Neil Bayntun-Roberts came 21st in 21:21, and next to finish was Jennifer Hill who was the second female on the day to finish in 21:32.  Other finishers included:  Kev Murray, Susan Hawitt, Claire Markham, Trevor Roberts, Matthew Holton, Pamela Binns, Jeremy McCandless, Sue Henry, Julie Wiseman, Gillian Oliver, Robert Parker and Michelle Sheridan.    Catherine Carrdus was the first female finisher at the Preston parkrun and Joanna Goorney 2nd female at the Huddersfield parkrun.
