LSARRC News 2nd June 2014

Wednesday night saw the first race of four in the Harrock Hill Fell Race Series.  Representing LSARR was Greg Oulton.  Although the course was quite muddy, Greg still knocked 12 seconds off his last year's finishing time to finish in  52:26.

Also on Wednesday night, was the Levens 10k, the second in the Kendal race series.  Peter Cruse made the trip up north to finish in 21st place, 39:48 and 2nd Male Vet 50.
The May race of the Club’s monthly handicap competition on Thursday night was a closely fought contest as usual.

With a two minutes improvement over his previous best time for the 4.35 miles summer course Jeremy McCandless was a convincing winner while last year’s champion Oliver Hirsh continued his fine form of last winter in second place.  Elsewhere there were further notable runs and personal bests by Fiona Geldard in 5th place and 7th finisher Neil Tate.

With wins in the first two races over the 4.35 miles summer course Jeremy McCandless is emphatically the pacesetter for the new annual series and successive personal bests for McCandless, who also won in April, have given him a significant early lead of 11 points ahead of the rest of the competitors currently led by scratch runner Dawn Lock.
