The weather for the first run of the year on the 4.35 miles club summer handicap course on Thursday night was a far cry from what would be hoped for and, unsurprisingly, the tough conditions were reflected in race times. Veteran Pam Binns had a hard-earned but ultimately comfortable win while Alan Elstone, Sue Hawitt and Mark Selby were three who got the better of the squally weather to record PBs. Tom Howarth's excellent 25:19 was the best men's score and, on her first run on the course, Michelle Hook, 32:44 was the quickest lady.
