On Sunday 3rd September 12 Lytham juniors completed the 2k parkrun at Park View in Lytham. Morgan Pritchard finished 6th in 8:15, closely followed by Eric Wrigley in 8:19. They were joined by Finlay Hughes (8:38), Billy Breakell (9:19), Charlotte Thomson (9:39), Jayden Richardson (9:47), Holly Anderson (9:48), Charlotte Fisher (10:20), Lucy Whiteside (10:38), Jack Greaves (10:39), Reef Breakell (11:52) and Sophie Tate (14:32).
Also on Sunday 4 Lytham members ran the scenic and undulating Garstang half marathon. Alex Tate was 13th in 1:26 and Ian 50th in 1:38. Jacqui Murray and Kirsten Burnett also ran the race as a warm up to the Great North run in 2:11. The runners will have been glad of the gentle drizzle through the steeper sections of the course.
The fifth race of the club’s annual handicap competition took place on Thursday with 28 members racing the 4.3-mile summer course. Twelve earned extra points for personal or season best times, while Andy Draper and Paul Veevers entered the men’s all-time top twenty list with their performances.
Paul was the winner on the night with father and son Steve and Ian Tate second and third respectively. Catherine Carrdus was the first lady back, with a pb of just fourteen seconds off the ladies’ course record. Bob Clough still leads the field with seven races to go but his lead has been cut to just nine points.
