LSARRC News 30th October 2018

Lytham Juniors at Fairclough Fun Run
As ever Saturday morning started with a parkrun for many of our runners.

Catherime Carrdus and John Bertenshaw ran the Preston parkrun finishing in 20:55 and 22:22. Alistair Leivers participated in the Coventry parkrun, finishing in 19:17. Neil Bayntun-Roberts entered the Hampstead Heath parkrun completing his race in 22:05. The LSARRC members who travelled the furtherst for parkrun this week were the Mcafee’s, they competed in the Clermont Waterfront parkrun. Lewis finished his race in 22:28, James in 45:48 and Joshua in 47:47. Joanna Goorney entered the Keswick parkrun and finished her race in 21:01. Stephen Tate ran the Dalby Forest parkrun competing the event in 24:37. Most Lytham runners ran the Lytham Hall Parkrun this weekend and achieved brilliant results. Joe Greenwood was the first Lytham runner to finish and second male overall, completing his run in 17:55. Andrew Draper finished his run in 18:00, Grahm Webster in 20:58, Maddy Markham in 21:16 and Terry Hellings in 21:59. Darran Ames was the next Lytham runner back in 22:06, Jennifer Hill in 22:17, Gavin Stanfield in 22:20, Dave Dunn in 22:51 and Mark Hughes in 22:57. Ben Gregson finished his race in 23:47, Gill Draper in 24:24, Claire Markham in 24:58 and Greg Oulton in 26:46. Laura Byrne n 27:50, Bob Clough in 28:26, Julie Wiseman in 29:04, Gillian Oliver in 29:59 and Paula McCandless in 30:31. Jeremey McCandless finished in 30:33, Graham Young in 30:42, Ruth Bye in 32:24 and Michelle Sheridan in 34:26.

Sundays Fairclough Fun Run was the second race in the Lytham St Annes RRC junior road race championship and Lytham juniors were put in force with 17 athletes making the trip.  The race is an off road hilly 1 mile course held entirely within Wyreside Country Park.  Lytham athletes filled the first 5 places and 8 out of the first 9 places with 13 year old Sophie Bohannon taking the lead very early in the race and never relinquishing it finishing very strongly in an excellent time of 5m 41s, 28 seconds clear of the second athlete Lytham’s 9 year old Jayden Richardson who also finishing strongly in 6m 9s.  Third and fourth were Lytham’s 12 year old Frankie Ball (6m 14s) just outsprinting team mate 14 year old Ben Gregson (6m 15s) reversing the previous weeks result at the Green Drive Mile.  Next home for Lytham and in fifth place was 11 year old Oliver Thomson (6m 20s).  Lytham also filled seventh, eighth and ninth places with 10 year old Eric Wrigley finishing seventh in 6m 25s just getting the better of 15 year old Laura Bremner  (8th in 6m 28s) and 8 year old Archie Belfield (9th in 6m 34s).  8 year old Max Walker just out sprinted team mate 10 year old Finlay Hughes to finish 13th and 14th in 6m 54s and 6m 56s respectively.  Lucy Bohannon just held off the challenge of Clemmie Tierney to finish 15th in 7m 03s with Clemmie just 2 seconds behind in 16th place.  Next home for Lytham were10 year old  Leoma Gill (23rd in 7m 46s) and with Kiefer Richardson (24th in 7m 53s).  Also representing Lytham were 10 year old Ella Wiseman in her first season competing for Lytham finishing 28th in 8m 21s, 8 year old Rosa Gill (30th in 8m 33s) and Emily Wrigley (34th in 9m 01s).  A great turn out form Lytham juniors doing the club proud.

Just two Lytham juniors ran the Park View junior parkrun this week as most chose to run the Fairclough Fun Run but Finlay Hughes decided to do both finishing third in the junior parkrun with a time of 8m 57s before dashing to Wyreside Country Park for his second race of the day just an hour later.  Sophie was Lytham’s only other representative finishing 61st in 18m 11s.

At Lytham Hall pakrun 15 year old Maddy Markham was Lytham’s only junior athlete finishing 15th overall from 210 finishers, second  female and first in her age category with a time of 21m 16s for the 5k course.
             
On Sunday afternoon Ross McKelvie and Kirsten Burnett raced in the Lancaster Jailbreak 10K. The race was described as a good fast flat course until the evil hill to finish into the castle grounds. Ross came 7th overall in 38:42 and Kirsten finished in 51:58.
