Juniors impress at Stanley Park athletics meeting.
It was a weekend of personal best performances for Lytham St Anne’s RRC junior athletes starting with the Mid Lancs, Medal Track and Feld meeting at Stanley Park.
Under 13 girl Charlotte Fisher achieved PBs in the 70m hurdles with a time of 14.3s, in the discus with a distance of 13.02m and the high jump with a height of 1.25m good enough for a silver medal. Older sister Rebecca Fisher also performed well picking up a bronze medal in the 75m hurdled with a time of 13.9s and silver in the discus with a distance of 21.55m. Under 15 boy Frankie Ball, in his first outing on the track this season, finished 2nd in his heat of the 200m in a personal best time of 27.6s. Under 15 girl Brogane Murphy finished strongly in the 800m taking 5th place also achieving a personal best time of 2m 39.7s. Under 13 girls Amara Thorpe and Clemmie Tierney both competed in the long jump clearing 3.28m and 3.3m respectively and in the 100m with times of 15.6s and 16.1s. Tierney went on to compete in the 200m finishing in 33.8s. Sisters Rebecca and Charlotte Fisher went on to compete in the Trafford open track and field meeting on Monday. Charlotte improved on all her performances from Saturday smashing her 70m hurdles PB by almost a second to finish in 13.46s, improved her discus PB to 13.321m and her high jump PB to 1,30m picking up a silver medal in the process. Older sister Rebecca Fisher competed in the 75m hurdles finishing in 13.81s and in the discus with a distance of 22.27m good enough for a silver medal.
Just 3 of Lytham’s junior athletes took part in the Lytham Hall parkrun. Archie Belfield was first home for Lytham juniors finishing 64th overall and 1st in his JM10 age group in a time of 24:24. Also representing Lytham juniors were Adhamh Holton 65th in 24:26 and Matthew Holton 119th in 26:45 and 1st in his JM11-14 age group.
7 of Lytham’s juniors ran in the Park View junior parkrun on Sunday. Lytham filled the first 2 places with Jayden Richardson (7:53) and Archie Belfield (PB of 8:01s). Jessica McNiven (13th in 9:40), Evie Alker (22nd in 10:59), Eric Wrigley (30th in 11:56), James McAfee (39th in 12:33) and Joshua McAfee (44th in 13:23)
4 Lytham Runners ran the Golf Ball Fell Race on the evening of 21st August. This was the final race in the brilliant mid-week series put on by Rossendale Harriers. It was a very muddy wet event and the finishers were Daryl Bentley 52:03, Debbie Cooper 01:02:40, Pamela Hardman 01:08:17 and Julia Rolfe 01:10:49.
Lots of Lytham runners attended parkruns, locally and further afield. At the Lytham Hall parkrun first home for the club was Mark Selby, who completed the course in 19:53 for 7th overall. Not far behind in 8th was Mark Selby in 20:06. The first female finisher was Joanna Goorney in 20:12, 9th overall. Gill Draper managed 4th female spot in a time of 21:44. Other results: Lewis McAfee 22:05 (29th), Gavin Stanfield 22:10 (30th), Chris Bowker 22:36 (33rd), Susan Hawitt 23:31 (51st), Jennifer Hill 23:38 (52nd), Hannah McCandless 25:14 (83rd), Mark Hughes 25:27 (91st), Brian Porter 27:05 (129th), Jeremy McCandless 27:53 (143rd), Claire England 28:36 (165th), Maria Tierney 29:10 (172nd), Trevor Roberts 29:13 (174th), Elizabeth Canavan 29:26 (181st), Ruth Bye 32:57 (238th), Catherine MaClachlan 33:53 (252nd), and Sue Henry 42:06 (315th).
Ian Tate completed the Warrington parkrun in 21:44 for 45th position overall. Darran Ames was a tourist park runner at the Cuerden Valley parkrun completing the course in 23:26 for 25th.
James Buckley travelled further a filed to Weymouth parkrun and managed the course in 23:20 for 117th. Whinlatter Forest parkrun was attended by Kirsten Burnett coming 184th in 37:58, and G Browne travelled to the Lanark Moor parkrun and 24:50 for 11th.
