The final of the Wyre and Fylde school sports hall athletics was held at Blackpool sports centre on Thursday and 3 of Lytham St Anne’s RRC junior members (Joe Alker, Evie Alker and Freddie Markham) were part of the winning Heyhouses School team. Heyhouses School will now go on to represent the borough in the Lancashire county finals in March. Thursday was also Lytham St Anne’s RRC monthly handicap race and 3 of Lytham’s juniors took part. 14-year-old Sophie Bohannon finished the 3.45-mile course around South Park in 23:06 for 2nd place breaking the junior course record that she had set in December by a further 13 seconds and moving her up to 6th fastest female in the 21-year history of the club. Matthew Holton and Laura Bremner both ran the race for the first time finishing in 24:01 and 25:53 respectively a time that makes Laura Bremner the 16th fastest female ever at the club.
On Sunday Maddy Markham took part in the Blackburn Winter Warmer 10k and ran well to finish in 44:17 taking the prize for 1st junior female.
