Silver double for talented youngster Rebecca Fisher at the English Schools AA cup
Rebecca Fisher continued her recent good form when competing for her school, Kirkham Grammar in the North West regional finals of the English Schools AA Cup. Fisher improved her personal best of 13.35s in the 75m hurdles by nearly half a second finishing 2nd overall in a time of 12.9s. Fisher also took 2nd place in the discus with a distance of 19.17m. Her school finished 1st in the junior category qualifying for the final in Chelmsford on 9th July. With no Lytham parkrun this week 2 Lytham juniors made their way to Stanley Park to take part in the Blackpool parkrun. 12-year-old Oliver Thomson running his first Blackpool parkrun finished in an impressive time of 20:43 for 9th place overall and 1st in his JM11-14 age category. 15-year-old Maddy Markham, returning from injury, ran well to finish 24th in 22:15 and first in her JW11-15 age category.
Sunday saw 7 Lytham juniors take part in the Park View junior parkrun. Jayden Richardson finished 1st for the 7th consecutive week in a time of 7:30. Joe Alker ran a personal best time of 8:05 to take 3rd place. Next home for Lytham were Finlay Hughes (4th in 8:20) and Bobby Hastwell (6th in 8:35). Freddie Markham (9th in 8:52) and James McAfee (27th in 10:40) both ran personal best times. Evie Alker also represented Lytham finishing 30th in a time of 11:06.
At the weekend Lytham parkrun didn’t take place because of club day but several senior club runners ran the Blackpool parkrun. Kev Murray was first home, coming 32nd in 22:58, followed by G Browne in 23:14 for 36th. Claire Markham (24:54), Peter Thomson (26:52), Jen Trohear (27:02), Rebecca Willetts (27:57), Pamela Binns (28:58), and Sylvia Gittins (30:17).
The Fleetwood Promenade parkrun was attended by Graham Webster who was 8th overall in 21:12 and Stephen Wise of Lytham who finished in 23:14. At the Storthes Hall parkrun Joanna Goorney was first female in a great time of 23:07. The Morecambe parkrun was attended by 5 Lytham ladies, Susan Hawitt, Claire England, Micelle Sheridan, Julie Wiseman and Sue Henry.
Gavin Stansfield attended the Harrogate parkrun and Gill Draper was 6th female to finish the Cheltenham parkrun.
The previous weekend Claire Markham completed the Freckleton half marathon in just over 2 hours, her first half marathon in over 13 years.
Maddy and Freddie Markham ran in the Freckleton fun run, Maddy was first female.
