7th July ETU Middle Distance European championships in Targu Mures, Romania

After 10 months of hard training, race day for LSARRC athlete Mel Koth finally arrived.
SWIM- 1.2 miles (no wetsuit through warm water temperature 26C), weakest discipline but managed to get through it and actually enjoyed it without struggling.
BIKE- 56miles, beautiful roads (no potholes), very technical and hilly 4 lap course, lots of locals out to support, temperature was rising (34C)
RUN-13.2 miles,  finishing the bike downhill in a little village called Sangeorgiu de Padure, it was going on another 4 lap route, this time on foot. The sun still out with the max temperature of 36C, athletes struggling and a lot dropping out. Mel stuck to her plan, keeping it steady and making sure she kept hydrated.

Mel managed to run the 2nd fastest time in her age group (1:38:02) finishing in a time of 5:23:14, and came 8th out of 45 in her age group.

LSARRC at Caldervale

Lytham road runners competed in the annual hilly 4 mile Caldervale supper run. Alex Tate was on top form finishing third (24:20) in a field of 160 runners. Brother Neil Tate was 5 places behind in 8th (25:43) third back for Lytham was Lewis Mcafee in 25th (28.44)

Junior News

On Sunday sisters Rebecca and Charlotte Fisher travelled to Shropshire for the 133rd Wenlock Olympian Games. The first Wenlock Olympian Games were held in 1850 and are still held every July in Much Wenlock (after which the London Olympics mascot Wenlock was named). Under 15 girl Rebecca picked up a bronze medal in the discus finishing 3rd with a throw of 21:87 and also equalled her personal best in the high jump with a leap of 1.35m. In her first ever high jump competition under 13 girl Charlotte cleared 1.25m for 2nd place and a silver medal.

On Wednesday under 17 girl Maddy Markham was Lytham’s only junior athlete in Blackpool’s Race for Life. Markham ran well to finish 4th overall in a time of 44:30.

Maddy Markham was competing again at the Lytham Hall parkrun on Saturday and ran well to finish 2nd overall, 1st in her JW15-17 age group and as 1st female in a time of 19:53. Ben Gregson, returning from injury and in his 1st parkrun for 6 weeks finished 17th overall and 1st in his JM15-17 age group in a time of 21:54. Also representing Lytham were brothers Adhamh and Matthew Holton finishing 24th and 117th in 22:20 and 27:54 respectively and James McAfee 194th in 33:06. On

Sunday, Lytham had 7 of their junior athletes at the Park View junior parkrun. First home for Lytham was Archie Belfield finishing 3rd overall and equalling his pb with a time of 8:07. Freddie Markham finished 7th overall in a time of 8:28 reducing his pb by an impressive 24 seconds. Also flying the Lytham flag were Lytham Bobby Hastwell (9th in 8:42), Jessica McNiven (16th in 9:14), Joe Alker (18th in 9:37), Evie Alker (27th in 10:30) and Joshua McAfee (49th in 13:21)

Lytham St Annes Carnival 5k

Lytham Road Runners organised their annual St Annes Carnival 5k, attracting a high-quality field of some of the best local athletes. Mike Toft was first back for LSARRC in 3rd place and a time of 16:33, Liz Abbot was first female in 6th place in a time of 17:32, breaking the clubs age category record. Don Ashton Memorial Tockholes fell race

Lytham took to hills on Tuesday for the Don Ashton Memorial Tockholes fell race. Liz Abbott (40.57) competing in her first fell race was first lady and 7th overall narrowly missing out on the course record by 30 secs. Neil Tate  (43.43) and Lewis Mcafee (53.00) were next home for Lytham to Help take the overall team prize. Dez Appleton (55.10) Ben Mccabe (55.34) Pam Hardman (58.59) Sue Hawitt (61.30) Greg Oulton (65.49) and Adrian Sargent (68.32) completed the line-up for LSARRC.

The evening of Friday the 5th July saw the 4th annual Lytham Beer Run take place, a fun and extremely well organised event and a great way to visit the sights and sounds of Lytham at a quicker pace than normal.   Registration at The Fairhaven pub to collect both the running t-shirt and first drink and then a short stroll or warm up for the more serious competitors to the Spitfire at Fairhaven Lake for the start of the race.  Our 18 brave LSARRC runners rose to the challenge of visiting a further 5 hostelries along the 5K course and certainly didn’t disappoint either with their running or drinking abilities.  First, Second and Third placed men and overall race positions went to LSARRC’s Mike Toft, Paul Veevers and Thomas Howarth respectively.  Second place lady was awarded to LSARRC’s Barbara Holmes and 3rd place to Sue Hawitt, to top it all off we also came 1st overall Team.  At the end of the run all competitors were awarded a fantastic memento; a Robinsons Dizzy Blond pint glass which will be put to good use by all.

Junior News
A busy weekend for Lytham St Annes RRC junior athletes started with the 4th fixture of the Mid Lancs Track &Field at Lancaster.  First on the track for Lytham was 12 year old Amara Thorpe finishing 5th in her heat of the 100m in a personal best time of 14.6s.  Thorpe went on to produce 2 more personal best performances in the long jump with a leap of 3.61m and 31.4s in the 200m for 4th place in division 2 for both events.  Under 15 boy Oscar Holmes was making his debut on the track and ran a good race in the 800m to finish in 2m 47.8s for first place in division 2.  Under 13 boy Oliver Thomson ran a  personal best of 5m 26.3s in the 1500m followed by his first ever 200m race finishing 2nd in division 2 in 31.2s.  Under 17 girl Maddy Markham dropped down to the 1500m from her usual 3000m and ran well to take 3rd place in 5m 20.2s.  Under 13 girl Sophie Bohannon ran an excellent 1500m race to finish 2nd in 5m 10.4s.  Meanwhile at the other end of the country in Chelmsford, Essex Rebecca Fisher was competing in the finals of the English Schools track and field cup.  In a very competitive field Fisher finished 3rd in her heat of the 75m hurdles in a personal best time of 13.2s picking up 23 points for her team.   Fisher also competed in the discus and although disappointed with her throw of 18.26m picked up a further 17 points for her team.

Sunday saw 5 Lytham junior athletes take part in St Annes Road Runners annual Carnival 5k race.  At just 13 years old Sophie Bohannon in her 2nd race of the weekend ran an excellent race to finish 15th overall and as 3rd female in a time of 19m 49s just beating team mate 15 year old Maddy Markham one place behind in 19m 51s.  Also representing Lytham juniors were 13 year old Morgan Pritchard (24th in 21m 37s)  Adhamh Holton (36th in 22m 37s) and  Laura Bremner  (37th in 22m 38s.

Start of the St Annes Carnival 1500m fun run

Lytham’s junior athletes made up 23 of the 41 finishers in the St Annes Carnival 1500m fun run filling the 1st 8 places.  1st home was Jayden Richardson in 5:17 followed by Oliver Thomson in his 2nd 1500m race of the weekend finishing in 5:22.  Also representing Lytham were Finlay Hughes (3rd in 5:26), Matthew Holton (4th in 5:32), Archie Belfield (5th in 5:34), Joe Alker (6th in 5:47), Max Alker (6th in 5:48), Archie Tate (8th in 5:56), Charlie Higgins (10th in 6:11), Clemmie Tierney (12th and 1st junior girl in 6:14), Eric Wrigley (13th in 6:15), Jack McNiven (14th in 6:18), Freddie Markham (15th in 6:30), Amara Thorpe (17th and 2nd junior girl in 6:36), Jessica McNiven (18th in 6:39), Kiefer Richardson (22nd in 6:58), Darcey Tate (23rd in 7:03), James McAfee (25th in 7:27), Evie Alker (26th in 7:30), Freya Thorpe (29th in 8:26), Maggie Belfield (31st in 8:27), Lewis Ames (32nd in 8:37) and Aimee Wrigley (37th in 12:37).

LSARRC ladies shine at the inter-club series.

Last Wednesday was the Thornton Interclub race, and LSARRC competitors didn’t disappoint.  A 5-mile measured race which starts opposite Norbreck Castle on the inner promenade and heads south all the way to Glynn Square, where runners turned to the lower promenade back north. At the boat angling club, turned up back to the inner promenade north to the finish. It was a very warm humid night.

The ladies had a cracking race and they managed to be back on top spot.  They finished 1st ladies’ team and first vet 40 ladies’ team. Our junior Maddy Markham raced for the first time in the series and did very well, she finished 9th lady in 34:46 and was 4th counter for the ladies’ team.

Liz Abbott was first lady home for Lytham coming, and Joe Greenwood was first male home. Mel Koth had a very good run too, finishing 4th lady, 1st vet lady in 32:36 which is a 1min 10sec PB.

On Saturday 29th June Heidi Haigh took part in the Lakeland Trails Ultra 100km. Starting at midnight from Ambleside the route took in 5 mountain passes across the central Lake District, including over 3100m of elevation/descent. Once the sun has risen the day became increasingly warmer and more humid, adding to what was an already challenging event. Haigh completed the event 85th out of the 140 starters, in a commendable time of 21hr 12mins 56s.

Also, at the weekend, Lytham runners ventured to Southport on Sunday to take part in the 10k and Half Marathon, the races were attended by over 2000 runners.  It was a well organised event with a traffic free route due to closed roads allowing runners to run through the heart of this famous seaside resort.  Live music/bands played at the start and finish of the races.  The weather was dry but, on the turn, back it was very windy which was a bit of a challenge. Runners received a medal and t shirt.

Half Marathon times: Thomas Howarth 1:27:50 position 58, Lewis McAfee 1:53:29 position 546 and Susan Hawitt 1:53:41 position 551.  10 K times were as follows: Kathy Gaunt 53:03 position 132, Juli Wiseman 1:03:59 position 345 Michelle Sheridan  and 1:14:30 position 501.

Kirsten Burnett was the sole LSARRC who attended the Fleetwood Promenade parkrun, Kirsten managed to complete the course in 57:22 for 32nd female spot.

Junior News
Lytham junior athletes were out in force in the Fylde Schools Track and Field Championships and competed with considerable success with 5 Fylde Schools Champions.  Maddy Markham finished 1st in the under 17 1500m to become Fylde schools champion. Under 14 Sophie Bohannon had a busy afternoon finishing 5th in the 200m in 29.5s, helping her relay team into 4th place and then in her preferred event comfortably taking the Fylde Schools Championship finishing  1st in the 1500m in a time of 5:07.  Rebecca Fisher claimed 2 Fylde School championships winning the 75m hurdles in 13.1s and the discus with a distance of 22.05m.  14-year-old Brogane Murphy produced an excellent sprint finish to finish 1st in her heat of the 800m in 2:40 and 2nd overall missing out on 1st place by less than a second.  Also representing Lytham junior girls were Amara Thorpe who finished 1st in her heat of the 150m and 2nd in the long jump with a personal best performance of 3.66m and helped her relay team into 2nd place.  Olivia Bielec finished 2nd in her heat of the 100m, ran a personal best of 2:37 in the 800m and helped her team into 4th place in the relay.

Several of Lytham’s junior boys were also competing.  Under 15 boys Frankie Ball and Jeremy Noblett both competed in the 300m with Ball comfortably winning his heat and finishing 4th overall and Noblett also comfortably winning his heat and finishing as Fylde Schools Champion in an impressive time of 41.1s.  Under 13 boys James Andrews, Morgan Pritchard and Arran Miller all competed in the 1500m finishing 4th in 5:33, 6th in 5:378 and 7th in 5:47 respectively.  

7 Lytham juniors took part in the Lytham Hall parkrun and  1st home for Lytham juniors was 13-year-old Sophie Bohannon finishing 11th overall in 20:15 and 1st in her J11-14 age category.  Oliver Thomson 14th in 20:22 and Maddy Markham 21st in 21:05 both finished 1st in their age JM11-14 and JW11-15 age categories.  Also representing Lytham junior were Brogane Murphy (46th in 23:08) and brothers Adhamh and Matthew Holton finishing 45th and 136th in 23:07 and 28:50 respectively.

10 Lytham juniors took part in the Park View junior parkrun.  Jayden Richardson celebrated his 10th birthday in style comfortably finishing 1st.  Also representing Lytham were Archie Belfield (3rd in 8:10), Bobby Hastwell (6th in 8:34), Freddie Markham (12th in 9:09), Joe Alker (18th in 9:50), Leoma Gill (21st in 10:02), Roman Holmes (22nd in 10:04), Evie Alker (26th in 10:36), Rosa Gill (27th in 10:38), James McAfee (46th in 12:24) and Joshua McAfee (55th in 12:55).

Silver double for talented youngster Rebecca Fisher at the English Schools AA cup
Rebecca Fisher continued her recent good form when competing for her school, Kirkham Grammar in the North West regional finals of the English Schools AA Cup.   Fisher improved her personal best of 13.35s in the 75m hurdles by nearly half a second finishing 2nd overall in a time of 12.9s.  Fisher also took 2nd place in the discus with a distance of 19.17m.  Her school finished 1st in the junior category qualifying for the final in Chelmsford on 9th July.  With no Lytham parkrun this week 2 Lytham juniors made their way to Stanley Park to take part in the Blackpool parkrun.  12-year-old Oliver Thomson running his first Blackpool parkrun finished in an impressive time of 20:43 for 9th place overall and 1st in his JM11-14 age category.  15-year-old Maddy Markham, returning from injury, ran well to finish 24th in 22:15 and first in her JW11-15 age category.
 
Sunday saw 7 Lytham juniors take part in the Park View junior parkrun.  Jayden Richardson finished 1st for the 7th consecutive week in a time of 7:30. Joe Alker ran a personal best time of 8:05 to take 3rd place.  Next home for Lytham were Finlay Hughes (4th in 8:20) and Bobby Hastwell (6th in 8:35).  Freddie Markham (9th in 8:52) and James McAfee (27th in 10:40) both ran personal best times.  Evie Alker also represented Lytham finishing 30th in a time of 11:06.

At the weekend Lytham parkrun didn’t take place because of club day but several senior club runners ran the Blackpool parkrun.  Kev Murray was first home, coming 32nd in 22:58, followed by G Browne in 23:14 for 36th.  Claire Markham (24:54), Peter Thomson (26:52), Jen Trohear (27:02), Rebecca Willetts (27:57), Pamela Binns (28:58), and Sylvia Gittins (30:17).

The Fleetwood Promenade parkrun was attended by Graham Webster who was 8th overall in 21:12 and Stephen Wise of Lytham who finished in 23:14.  At the Storthes Hall parkrun Joanna Goorney was first female in a great time of 23:07.  The Morecambe parkrun was attended by 5 Lytham ladies, Susan Hawitt, Claire England, Micelle Sheridan, Julie Wiseman and Sue Henry.
Gavin Stansfield attended the Harrogate parkrun and Gill Draper was 6th female to finish the Cheltenham parkrun.

The previous weekend Claire Markham completed the Freckleton half marathon in just over 2 hours, her first half marathon in over 13 years.

Maddy and Freddie Markham ran in the Freckleton fun run, Maddy was first female.

2019 Welsh Castles Relay Team

Lytham St Annes RRC took a full team of 20, to Wales for the 37th Welsh Castles Relay weekend, last weekend. The team this year included 4 ‘Castles’ debutants who all has a fantastic weekend. The challenge, as ever, was to cover the 208 or so miles from Caernarfon to Cardiff as quickly as possible. Although a little wet during Saturday morning, things soon brightened up leaving good conditions for running for the remainder of the weekend

Catherine Carrdus

The best result for Lytham came from Catherine Carrdus who won the 1st Lady prize on Stage 4, the 9.5-mile route from Maentwrog to Harlech Castle. Her time of 1:00:37 smashed the previous club record for the stage. Tom Howarth also had a great run on the 12.9-mile-long stage 15, from Epynt Visitor Centre to Brecon, to finish in 12th place overall.

The team finished 52nd out of 64 teams in the overall competition and 37th of 41 teams in the Open category. However, their total time to Cardiff of 26 hours 20 minutes and 3 seconds was 6 minutes faster than last year when the team finished in 40th position overall. This reflects how good the standard was this year with many teams taking some strong squads. All the Lytham team should be very proud of their hard efforts.

Lytham runners at the Preston Inter Club

On the 12.06.19 LSARRC attended the Preston interclub event.  It was a typical wet June evening 41 Lytham Road Runners turned up to represent their club at the Preston Interclub. Excellent performances from each and every individual ensured that Lytham finished the evening a superb 1st Overall in the Open Category (Toft, Greenwood, Abbott, Howarth, Leivers, A.Draper, Garrett, Carrdus, Tuck and O.McIntyre); 2nd in the Female Vet 40 category (Carrdus, Koth, Cox, K.McIntyre and Hawitt); 3rd in the Ladies (Abbott, Carrdus, Koth, Cox and G. Draper); 3rd in the Veterans (Abbott, Carrdus, Tuck, Tate, Koth and Webster); 3rd in the Vet 60 category (Webster, Bertenshaw and Clough) and 5th in the Vet 50 category (Webster, Bertenshaw, Hawitt and Gaunt).

The range of results and scorers across the categories demonstrated that the club has a broad depth of talent, dedication, experience and potential across their senior and junior (age 15+) members. Other than the team as a whole, the most notable performance from the evening was from junior runner Oliver McIntyre (pictured, courtesy of David Wood), who at 15 years (and 4 days!) had only just become eligible to run in the Interclub Series. He finished 45th overall out of a total of 339 runners and was a point’s scorer in the Open Category (see junior news).

LSARRC at Freckleton Half Marathon

Also, over the weekend 19 Lytham runners ran the Freckleton half marathon on 16th June.  First home for Lytham was Thomas Howarth in 1:25:03 for 13th place.  Next to finish was Neil Tate in 1:31:54 for 57th.  Dominic Garett ran the course in a pb of 1:32:30 for 58th.  Paul Veevers finished the course in 1:33:34 for 62nd.  Other finishers were:  Mark Selby, Neil Baynton Roberts, Darran Ames, Lewis McAfee, Kev Murray, Chris Bowker, James Buckley, Derek Appleton, Pamela Hardman, Victoria Richardson (pb 2:07:31), Bob Clough, Johnny Wild and Ruth Bye.

Junior news

Two of Lytham St Annes RRC junior boys made their debut in the Inter Club series at Avenham Park, Preston on Wednesday.  Oliver McIntyre at just 15 years and 6 days old was the youngest participant on the day and Lytham’s youngest athlete ever to compete in the series.   McIntyre ran exceptionally well to finish 45th from 337 in a time of 23:41 for the 3.9m course and was the 10th counter in the Lytham team helping them to 1st place in the open category.  Also making his debut was Ben Gregson finishing 107th in 26:40.
 
Three Lytham juniors took part in the Lytham Hall 5k parkrun on Saturday with 12 year old Oliver Thomson running well to finish 3rd overall and 1st in his JM11-14 age category in an excellent time of 20:28.  Clemmie Tierney was next home for Lytham junior athletes finishing 87th overall and 1st in her JW11-14 age category in a time of 26:09.  James McAfee ran a personal best time of 30:25 to finish 2nd in his JM10 age category.

Lytham athletes took the first 2 places at Park View Junior parkrun with Jayden Richardson finishing 1st for the 6th consecutive time in a time of 7:32 and Joe Alker 2nd in 8:08.  Also representing Lytham was Evie Alker who ran a personal best time of 10:26 to finish in 16th position.

Lytham juniors were out in force for the 2-mile fun run attached to Sunday’s Freckleton Half Marathon.  No official results are published but Jayden Richardson in his second run of the day finished 4th with Maddy Markham returning from injury 5th and 1st female.  Also running for Lytham were Brogane Murphy, Eric Wrigley, Archie Belfield, Freddie Markham, Rebecca Tate and Emily Wrigley.

At the weekend, the Canaccord Genuity Wealth Management Jersey Half Marathon took place which is a scenic, fast point to point road race which attracts around 500 runners. Pamela Binns ran the  1/2 marathon course on 9th June in an impressive 2:21:49 winning 1st prize for the category FV 70+.

At the Lytham Hall parkrun on Saturday Alistair Leivers was first home for Lytham, coming 3rd overall in a time of 18:38.  Next was Mark Selby in 19:54 for 6th overall.  James Buckley ran the course in 22 minutes for 22nd, Kev Murray was 34th with a time of 23:10.  Other results:  G Browne 23:39 (42nd), Gill Draper 23:46 (4th female, 44th overall), Rebecca Willetts 27:09 (11th female, 87th overall), Karen Lanigan 28:58 (21st female, 111th overall), Laura Byrne 29:17 (25th female, 117th overall), Sylvia Gittins 30:09 (31st female, 124th overall), Julie Wiseman 30:41 (38th female, 133rd overall), Sue Henry 31:27 (44th female, 144th overall), Robert Parker 32:56 (155th), Michelle Sheridan 34:39 (55th female, 165th overall), and Sarah Bagshaw 39:39 (66th female, 182nd overall).  Stephen Wise ran the Greenpoint parkrun in 23:53.

 The Lancashire Schools Athletic Association Track and Fled Championships took place at Stanley Park over the weekend of 8th and 9th of June and 3 Lytham athletes were selected to represent Fylde.  In conditions not conducive to discus throwing Lytham’s under1 5 girl Rebecca Fisher competed well with a best distance of 19:45 to take 4th place.  Brogan Murphy ran a seasons best of 2m 43.9s in the under 15 girls 800m to take 12th place.  Sophie Bohannon was one of the youngest competitors in the under 15 girls 1500m and ran well to stay with the leading group to eventually finish 5th in a competitive race from a field of 15.

 

Just 3 Lytham junior athletes took part in the Lytham Hall parkrun on Saturday.  First home for Lytham junior athletes was Oliver McIntyre who, in appalling running conditions, finished 4th overall and comfortably 1st in his JM11-14 age group in an excellent time of 19:38.  Ben Gregson finished 9th overall and also 1st in his JM15-17 age group in a time of 21:38.  Regular park runner Morgan Pritchard completed his 102nd parkrun at just 13 years old finishing in 22:41 for 26th place.

8 of Lytham’s junior athletes ran the Park View junior parkrun with Jayden Richardson finishing 1st in 7:29 and Finlay Hughes 2nd in a new personal best time of 7:48. Also running a personal best time of 8:07 and finishing 4th was Joe Alker.  Also representing Lytham were Bobby Hastwell  (7th in 8:34), Freddie Markham (9:05), Evie Alker (27th in 10:47), James McAfee (personal best of 11:14 for 32nd place) and Joshua McAfee (62nd in 12:58).

Melanie Koth completes challenging triathlon
On Sunday Melanie Koth of Lytham completed her first ever EpicMan Windermere Middle Distance Triathlon.

It included a 1.2Mile swim in lake Windermere, a 56Mile bike ride and finishes with a half marathon.
There was beautiful sunshine in the morning (7am) for the start of the swim. Koth explained that all the competitors got split up in to 3 waves. The lake was calm, and we had to swim a single lap around the lake. As soon the swim was finished, we had to cycle mostly in rain a brutal but scenic route. There were hills after hills, and they were unbelievable steep. To finish off we had to run the half marathon in a mixture of cross country and trail.

Koth had a good race, even she had bad cramp on her right calf after the swim. The bike was tough, and Koth said her legs were shuttered after the 2 laps. The run took competitors through a twisty forest with lots of ups and downs with some very muddy fields to battle. It was 4 laps and the spectators and Marshalls were brilliant and very encouraging. Koth managed to finish as 9th lady out of 40, 2nd vet40 and 118th overall out of 234 finishers.

Also, on Sunday Sylvia Gittins ran the Morecambe 10K in a fantastic time of 01:00:12.  With regards to parkrun, not as many club runners took part as the local Lytham Hall parkrun was cancelled.  Gerry Browne of Lytham, and several others did complete the Blackpool parkrun, with Browne first to finish in 22:55 for 23rd.  Anther highlight was Johnathon Tuck who completed the Preston parkrun in 18:49.

A busy week for Rebecca Fisher started at Trafford open meeting on bank holiday Monday with 3 personal best performances of 13.35 in the 75m hurdles, 22.62m and a silver medal in the discus and 7.71m in the shot.  Younger sister Charlotte also ran a personal best of 14.42 in the 70m hurdles.   Rebecca went on to compete in the Wyre and Fylde HS Combined Events Championships on Wednesday taking first place in the 75m hurdles, high jump and discus and finishing 2nd overall.

Saturday saw 5 Lytham junior athletes compete at the 3rd fixture of the Mid Lancs Track and field league at the UCLAN sports arena, Preston.  In her 3rd competition of the week Rebecca Fisher competed in 3 events and was top scorer for Lytham finishing 1st in division 2 in the shot with a personal best of 7.78m and first in the discus with a best throw of 21.14m. Fisher went on to finish 2nd in division 2 in the 75m hurdles in a time of 13.5s picking up a total of 19 points.  Younger sister Charlotte finished 3rd in division 2 in the 70m hurdles in 15.3s.  Under 13 girls Amara Thorpe and Clemmie Tierney both competed in the first event of the day, the 100m finishing in 15.4s and 16.0s respectively.  Thorpe and Tierney both went on to compete in the long jump with Thorpe finishing 9th from 34 with a seasons best of 3.53m and Tierney clearing 3.36m.  In the 200m Thorpe and Tierney finished in 32.2s (seasons best) and 33.7s respectively.  Under 13 boy Oliver Thomson finished 2nd in division 2 in the 1500m in a time of 5m 32.2s.

5 of Lytham’s juniors took part in the Park View junior parkrun on Sunday.  First home for Lytham and 3rd overall was Eric Wrigley in a time of 8.16 just getting the better of team mate Archie Belfield (4th in 8:18).  Also representing Lytham were Bobby Hastwell (6th in 8:56), Joe Alker (13th in 10:02) and Evie Alker (20th in 10:55).
