Hellings and Webster achieve diamond standard times at Lancaster, and Pamela Hardman sets a new club record in Blackpool

On Friday 15th February Lytham St Anne’s RRC athletes Ross McKelvie, Graham Webster and Terry Hellings made their way to Lancaster for The Power of 5k races.  The races are held on a fast, flat course on the cycle track at Salt Ayre.  Ross McKelvie ran in the first race for athletes running under 20 minutes for the distance.  In a very competitive race Ross finished in 13th place with a personal best time of 17:11.  Webster and Hellings competed in the open race and both ran well to finish 7th and 9th overall and taking 1st and 2nd in the MV65 category with times of 21:00 and 21:29 respectively and both achieving club diamond standard times.
LSARRC at the GNW Half Marathon

Lots of Lytham Runners completed the GNW half marathon on Sunday 17th February on a very windy and cold day in Blackpool. It’s was their 30th Anniversary so a very nice medal and t-shirt was given to all runners for battling to the end.  Mike Toft was 3rd finisher, and first home for the club in 1:14:05:33.  Another highlight was Pamela Hardman winning the  FV60 category with a new club record for the half marathon Ladies VET 60-65, and Sue Hawitt also running a personal best time.

Several LSARRC ran the Lytham Hall parkrun on Saturday.  First home was Andy Unsworth in 18:34 for 3rd.  Andrew Draper finished in just over 19 minutes for 6th.  Joanna Goorney was the first female home in 19:59 and Darran Ames was 13th in 21:07.  Graham Webster managed 21:08 for 14th and Jennifer Hill and Catherine Carrdus finished 5th and 6th female followed closely by Barbara Holmes who was 7th female in 21:28.  Other runners included Terry Hellings (22:10), John Bertenshaw (23:43), Kev Murray (23:52), Claire Markham (24:03), Gavin Stanfield (24:40), Greg Oulton (27:34), Jacqui Murray (27:48), Jason Sheridan (27:58), Bob Clough (28:24), Maria Tierney (28:27), Rebecca Willetts (29:29), Julie Wiseman (30:08), Sue Henry (30:16), Graham Young (31:57), Jeremy McCandless (34:10), Ruth Bye (38:01).  Mark Hughes of Lytham also completed the Cuerden Valley parkrun.

With no races this weekend Lytham St Anne’s RRC juniors were out in force at parkrun.  First home for Lytham juniors at Lytham Hall parkrun was Maddy Markham finishing 12th overall and 1st in her JW15-17 age category in a time of 21:05.  Morgan Pritchard was not far behind in 21:08 (15th and 1st in his JM11-14 age group).  Ben Gregson took 17th position and 2nd JM15-17 in a time of 21:18.  Oliver Thomson ran a personal best time of 21:25 reducing his previous best by 11 seconds to take 23rd position and 2nd JM11-14 just getting the better of Brogan Murphy (24th in 21:26).  10-year-old Eric Wrigley ran his fastest time for 6 months to finish 40th and 1st JM10 in a time of 23:09.  Clemmie Tierney ran her 2nd quickest time to finish 105th in 25:57 and 2nd JW11-14.  Last of the Lytham junior’s contingent was 10-year-old Ella Wiseman finishing 243rd in a time of 36:16.
 
Finlay Hughes was Lytham’s only junior representative at the tough Cuerden Valley parkrun finishing 119th in 30:24.

At Park View junior parkrun on Sunday, Jayden Richardson was back to winning ways finishing 1st for the 5th time in 6 weeks in a time of 7:45.  Finlay Hughes and Eric Wrigley both having completed a parkrun the previous day finished 3rd and 4th in 8:25 and 8:29 respectively.  Archie Belfield was next home for Lytham finishing 6th in 8:32.  Freddie Markham finished 21st in 9:52 with brothers James McAfee 44th in 12:12 and Joshua McAfee 58th in a new personal best time of 13:09.  Final finisher for Lytham was Sophie Tate 61st in 13:42.
