LSARRC News 11th June 2019

At the weekend, the Canaccord Genuity Wealth Management Jersey Half Marathon took place which is a scenic, fast point to point road race which attracts around 500 runners. Pamela Binns ran the  1/2 marathon course on 9th June in an impressive 2:21:49 winning 1st prize for the category FV 70+.

At the Lytham Hall parkrun on Saturday Alistair Leivers was first home for Lytham, coming 3rd overall in a time of 18:38.  Next was Mark Selby in 19:54 for 6th overall.  James Buckley ran the course in 22 minutes for 22nd, Kev Murray was 34th with a time of 23:10.  Other results:  G Browne 23:39 (42nd), Gill Draper 23:46 (4th female, 44th overall), Rebecca Willetts 27:09 (11th female, 87th overall), Karen Lanigan 28:58 (21st female, 111th overall), Laura Byrne 29:17 (25th female, 117th overall), Sylvia Gittins 30:09 (31st female, 124th overall), Julie Wiseman 30:41 (38th female, 133rd overall), Sue Henry 31:27 (44th female, 144th overall), Robert Parker 32:56 (155th), Michelle Sheridan 34:39 (55th female, 165th overall), and Sarah Bagshaw 39:39 (66th female, 182nd overall).  Stephen Wise ran the Greenpoint parkrun in 23:53.

Junior News
 The Lancashire Schools Athletic Association Track and Fled Championships took place at Stanley Park over the weekend of 8th and 9th of June and 3 Lytham athletes were selected to represent Fylde.  In conditions not conducive to discus throwing Lytham’s under1 5 girl Rebecca Fisher competed well with a best distance of 19:45 to take 4th place.  Brogan Murphy ran a seasons best of 2m 43.9s in the under 15 girls 800m to take 12th place.  Sophie Bohannon was one of the youngest competitors in the under 15 girls 1500m and ran well to stay with the leading group to eventually finish 5th in a competitive race from a field of 15.
 
Just 3 Lytham junior athletes took part in the Lytham Hall parkrun on Saturday.  First home for Lytham junior athletes was Oliver McIntyre who, in appalling running conditions, finished 4th overall and comfortably 1st in his JM11-14 age group in an excellent time of 19:38.  Ben Gregson finished 9th overall and also 1st in his JM15-17 age group in a time of 21:38.  Regular park runner Morgan Pritchard completed his 102nd parkrun at just 13 years old finishing in 22:41 for 26th place.
Start of Park View junior parkrun
8 of Lytham’s junior athletes ran the Park View junior parkrun with Jayden Richardson finishing 1st in 7:29 and Finlay Hughes 2nd in a new personal best time of 7:48. Also running a personal best time of 8:07 and finishing 4th was Joe Alker.  Also representing Lytham were Bobby Hastwell  (7th in 8:34), Freddie Markham (9:05), Evie Alker (27th in 10:47), James McAfee (personal best of 11:14 for 32nd place) and Joshua McAfee (62nd in 12:58).
